HIS MAJESTY THE SULTAN AND YANG DI-PERTUAN OF BRUNEI DARUSSALAM PRESENTS AND RECEIVES LETTERS OF CREDENCE FOR NEWLY-APPOINTED ENVOYS

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, this afternoon presented Letters of Credence to Brunei Darussalam’s newly-appointed Ambassadors and received Letters of Credence from the newly-appointed envoys to Brunei Darussalam.

His Majesty first presented Letters of Credence to His Excellency Haji Sulaini bin Haji Said, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to the Sultanate of Oman; and Her Excellency Kamilah binti Haji Mohd Hanifah, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to Japan.

His Majesty then received Letters of Credence from His Excellency Air Vice Marshal Mahmud Hussain, High Commissioner of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Brunei Darussalam; His Excellency Do Anh Tuan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Brunei Darussalam; His Excellency Mehmet Suat Akgun, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Brunei Darussalam; and His Excellency Marcal Avelino Ximenes, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste to Brunei Darussalam.

Following the ceremony, His Majesty then received in audience Brunei Darussalam’s newly-appointed Ambassadors.

His Excellency Haji Sulaini bin Haji Said, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to the Sultanate of Oman previously served as the Consul General of Brunei Darussalam to Jeddah.

Meanwhile, Her Excellency Kamilah binti Haji Mohd Hanifah, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to Japan, formerly held the post of Senior Special Duties Officer at the Department of Economic Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

His Majesty then received in separate audiences the newly-appointed envoys to Brunei Darussalam.

His Excellency Air Vice Marshal Mahmud Hussain, High Commissioner of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Brunei Darussalam, previously served as the Chairman of Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority.

His Excellency Do Anh Tuan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Brunei Darussalam formerly held the post of Deputy Director General of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

His Excellency Mehmet Suat Akgun, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Brunei Darussalam, was assigned as Deputy Director General for South Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey.

Meanwhile, His Excellency Marcal Avelino Ximenes, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste to Brunei Darussalam previously held the post of Senior Lecturer at the National University of Timor Lorosa’e.

The ceremony took place at Istana Nurul Iman.
