Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Korea (ROK) had established diplomatic relations on 1 June 1984.
ROK had set up its Consulate General in Bandar Seri Begawan on 15 September 1983 but was raised to an Ambassadorial Level on 1 January 1984.

Brunei and the ROK share extensive cooperation in economic and trade, agriculture, education, culture and youth, ICT and tourism.

Brunei participated in an Expo held on 12 May – 12 August 2012 in Yeosu and has its own pavilion with the theme: Forest to Reefs: Sustainable Bio-diversity.

Mr. Goh Kiat Chun, Chairman of Palm Garden Hotel and Fitness Zone Centre was appointed by the Korean government as the Goodwill Ambassador for Public Diplomacy on 9 October 2012.

The 4th Brunei – ROK Policy Consultative Meeting (PCM) was held in Seoul on 8 July 2011.
